What Astron CLEARsplint™ Can Do For Your Dental Practice

The Nightguard With Flex

Astron CLEARsplint™, known as the “nightguard with flex,” is quickly becoming a favorite among dentists. These bite splints are designed with fit and longevity in mind. Fabricated from a modified composite material, CLEARsplint™ can easily adapt to the mouth with perfect accuracy.

Astron Dental Corporation has been on the cutting-edge of dental products for the past 40 years. The company focuses on in-depth consumer studies and research to help dentists across the country offer better service and products to their customers.

With CLEARsplint’s accurate fit, dentists can spend less time in the chair. Added dimensional stability also means fewer, if any adjustments.

Other Benefits for Dentists:

  • Composite formulation, which is a mixture of powder and liquid, that can be press-packed or poured
  • Ramps and guide planes that can be added to reposition the mandible
  • The ability to make chairside repairs with cold cure acrylics

As the name suggests, the CLEARsplint™ nightguard is nearly invisible, making it a favorite among patients. The hard, yet flexible material is a great option for those with bruxing or clenching.

Other Patient Benefits:

  • Amine-free to never yellow
  • MMA-free to eliminate allergy problems
  • Self-adjusting when placed in warm water before wearing
  • Excellent rating for wearability and patient comfort

Clinical Techniques for CLEARsplint™

Case Requirements

Start with an accurate, void-free impression of both arches. Ensure no tears or bubbles are present in impression material for precision fit. Next is to provide an open construction bite. Instruct patient to close into centric relation to verify midline position and bite. Then, place two cotton rolls behind the cuspids and instruct patient to close; with patient in open bite, inject bite registration into the posterior openings of both quadrants. In addition, inject bite registration into anterior opening to capture a complete open construction bite.

Seat splint and evaluate fit and retention. If adjustments are necessary, adjust with carbide bur or polish if needed. Once seated in the patient’s mouth, check bite with marking tape to identify premature occlusion; adjust and polish as needed
